Seven minutes in, Dowman opened the scoring with an assured finish after a driving solo run — his first involvement of the season after four unused sub appearances, and he wasted no time making up for lost minutes. Just 98 seconds into the second half, he struck again, controlling Zubimendi's deflected pass and opening his body up to slot coolly into the bottom corner with his left foot.

Two goals, on his first start of the campaign, at 16 years old. That makes him only the second 16-year-old to score twice in a game for a Premier League club, after a certain Wayne Rooney did it for Everton back in 2002. No pressure, kid.

⚽ Madueke And Merino Chip In

Sandwiched between the Dowman show, Noni Madueke volleyed in Arsenal's second inside the opening quarter of an hour, and Mikel Merino made it 4-0 with a tidy strike off the post shortly after the hour mark — at which point this had the makings of an absolute rout.

Credit to the hosts for not folding completely. Anis Mehmeti pulled one back for Ipswich, and substitute Chuba Akpom added a stoppage-time consolation to make the final score a slightly more respectable 4-2.
