Hello Fellow Gooners,
I always wanted to write regularly about our Arsenal but I could not do it for a couple of years. I have decided to publish at least one blog a month to share my feelings and opinions on things happened.
1. Signing Solutions, Not Squad Fillers
This past summer wasn't just a transfer window; it was a statement. The club didn't just spend big, they shattered the piggy bank, splashing nearly £250 million to give Mikel Arteta the finishing touches for a league-winning machine.
We didn't just sign players; we signed solutions!
The #9 (#14) Issue? Solved. We brought in Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP for huge money. He's physical, he's relentless, and he scores goals. Done.
The Creative Spark? Ignited. Eberechi Eze is pure magic, signed for £60m to give us that dynamism and unpredictability in the final third. Every touch is a thrill.
The Midfield Rock? Finally Ours. The long-running saga for Martin Zubimendi is over. That midfield general we've been crying out for is here, offering steel and world-class distribution. The addition of Christian Nørgaard brings in that PL experience that was needed.
Elite Depth. Getting Noni Madueke to bolster the wings and landing Piero Hincapié (on loan) for defensive cover shows we're finally building a squad that can handle three competitions, not just an XI. Even the arrival of Kepa Arrizabalaga for cover is a sign of our new, ruthless ambition.
Out went some long-serving players like Partey, Tierney, and Jorginho. It was clinical and decisive. This isn't Mikel Arteta building a squad anymore; this is Arteta refining a fortress.
2. The Hard Start: We Passed the Test
The Premier League gave us a terrible start. We faced the biggest teams right away:
Man Utd (Away)
Liverpool (Away)
Man City (Home)
Newcastle Utd (Away)
This run was a true test of our new team. But we passed it!
We got a huge 1-0 Win at Old Trafford.
We got a massive 1-1 Draw against Man City at home.
We got a tough 2-1 Win at Newcastle.
The only loss was a narrow 1-0 defeat at Liverpool.
Coming out of that schedule, we are 2nd in the league. This shows we are ready to challenge the top.
3. The Results: Winning Everywhere
We're in October, and the sheer volume of high-quality results across all competitions is proof that the summer spending was worth every penny.
European and Domestic Cup Progress
We're not dropping the ball anywhere. The new depth is allowing us to compete on all fronts:
Champions League: Two games, two comfortable 2-0 wins (away at Athletic Club and home against Olympiacos). We’re looking composed and mature in Europe, which is a huge step up from previous seasons. Martinelli is tearing up the flank!
Carabao Cup: A professional 2-0 win away at Port Vale, where Eberechi Eze bagged his first goal for the club. We’re into the next round, maintaining momentum and keeping the squad ticking over.
The results are proof of the change in mentality. We are defensively sound (only 3 conceded in 6 PL games) and now have goals coming from everywhere. Long may this continue!!!
Do we finally have everything to win big trophies? I hope so.
